| Swans are commonly seen all over in Denmark, where they regularly nest and breed. Every year in spring and autumn, Danish people can observe great flocks of swans traveling to or from the south. |

| In Denmark, there are almost no snakes to be found, but the grass snake is a harmless animal and is easy to spot thanks to the yellow spots on top of its head. It’s illegal to kill the grass snake in Denmark, since it’s almost extinct. |

| Denmark has a large population of deer and the most common is the roe deer. This is the smallest of the deer in Denmark but also a great cause of traffic accidents at night, especially during winter. |

| The starling is not an uncommon bird anywhere in the world but in the Danish marshlands they have a very special behavioral pattern. Around sunset, huge numbers of starlings will start to gather and perform a kind of dance in the sky before they settle down for the night. This is called Sort Sol, or “Black Sun” in English. Photographers often gather to get a picture of this captivating dance. |
