The pharmacy is a place where you can buy medicine and other ointments or products for the body. The pharmaceutical industry in Denmark is license-based, meaning you can only open a pharmacy if you own a license. Also, it’s the Danish state that decides where you can open a new pharmacy. Older Danish pharmacies usually use animal names in their titles, like lion, swan or eagle.

A kiosk is a place that is open for longer than a grocery store, where you can buy necessities. Kiosks in smaller towns also offer movie rentals. Kiosks are the Danish version of convenience stores.

There are 2 major grocery store chains in Denmark and both have high-end stores and budget stores. In local communities, there are always grocery shops around, and they usually offer post office, bakery and other services as well.
