Søren Kierkegaard was a Danish theologist and philosopher. He is said to be the father of Existentialism. He was famous for having published under several pseudonyms and for founding the existentialist movement. He lived from 1813 to 1855.

Peter Høeg is a Danish writer who uses his novels to criticize current social issues and topics. His most famous novel "Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow" was originally published in 1992. Recently, after a 10-year period of silence, he released "The Quiet Girl" which has received a lot of negative criticism.

Inger Christensen was a Danish poet who lived from 1935-2009 and achieved international acclaim. Many believe she should have received a Nobel prize for her works. She first published in 1962 and wrote several collections and novels. Her breakthrough piece was called "It."

Steen Steensen Blicher lived from 1783-1848, and was a priest, as well as a poet, translator, and author. He was greatly inspired by nature and hunting. Most of his writings are of a naturalistic style and tragic realism. He was hated by the critics but readers loved him.
