INTRODUCTION
Anna: Hi, everybody. I’m Anna.
Becky: And I'm Becky. Welcome back to DanishClass101.com. This is All About, Lesson 11 - Top 5 Most Useful Tools for Learning Danish.

Lesson focus

Anna: In this lesson, we have a great list of tools to help your Danish studies.
Becky: Yes, we do! These tools can help you enjoy your Danish studies as much as possible and save you a lot of time.
Anna: That’s right. So why don’t we jump right in?
Becky: Let’s do this! Our first tool is Entertainment! TV, news, and movies provide excellent examples of how native speakers use the language in the most natural way.
Anna: Some great sources for Danish learners of all levels are YouTube, and the Danish TV channels and radio channels’ websites.
Becky: Yes, Danmarks Radios website is a good place to start. You can watch the news, read articles, and listen to live radio or older podcasts.
Anna: Yeah. But I would recommend learning Danish through songs because it’s simply more fun. Just go to YouTube and type in “Danish songs”.
Becky: And you’ll have a lot to choose from!
Anna: Definitely, and it’s a fun way to learn new words! Now let’s move on to the next tool - a dictionary.
Becky: Using bilingual dictionaries is always a safe route and is very helpful. You can refer to the Lesson Notes for specific links to the most user-friendly websites. Simply type in the word you want to look up, then you’ll see the equivalent word and detailed explanation in English.
Anna: Now our next tool is Danish-speaking friends.
Becky: This is potentially the most effective and rewarding source for learning Danish. Friends who speak to you in Danish can give you more insight, understanding, and help you feel the heart of the Danes.
Anna: That's true. They can really help you express yourself in Danish and understand us!
Becky: But if you don’t have a Danish-speaking friend, it’s still fine. Online social networks are another helpful tool.
Anna: There is one site called Lang 8 that provides a free way for people studying Danish to have their written Danish corrected by a native speaker of that very language.
Becky: For example, a native English speaker can correct a Danish person's English writing. And a native Danish speaker can correct a native English speaker who is studying Danish.
Anna: It's so helpful because it offers a free service for people to correct each other’s writing.
Becky: Definitely, and if you want to meet even more Danes, the best place is Facebook.
Anna: Who doesn’t have Facebook these days?!
Becky: Right? Facebook is by far the most popular social networking site out there. It is even more popular among Danes than any other Danish social network.
Anna: Search for Danish language pages, groups, or anything related to Danish language learning ...
Becky: And you are sure to find helpful Danes on these pages providing help to Danish learners when needed. It’s free and there are some great opportunities to make awesome friends there.
Anna: All right. Our last tool is more simple than you can imagine - pen and paper.
Becky: You may think this is absolutely prehistoric now because we live in a digital age, but there are good reasons to use pen and paper. First, you can easily get them anywhere for only a few dollars. You won’t have to be afraid of getting them stolen or broken. And lastly, they help you take notes quickly and remember what you learned.
Anna: And if you catch something interesting from conversations in the street, such as a useful word or phrase, you can just write it down! This is when a notebook comes in handy.
Becky: When you write it down yourself, and mark it in your notebook, it gets into your memory quicker and has a better chance of staying there.
Anna: Alright, so we hope you’ll take advantage of these great tools and what they have to offer.
Becky: We've tried them and we know how good they are, so that's why we're passing them on to you!
Anna: Remember that the links for all of the sites and programs can be found in the accompanying Lesson Notes.
Becky: Let us know what you think of them too! And if you have some other resources you find useful, you can always stop by DanishClass101.com and share them with the community!

Outro

Becky: Ok, that’s all for this lesson. Thanks for listening, and we’ll see you next time!
Anna: Hej hej!!
