Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask the question, "When is your birthday?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to ask and answer about the date of an event.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Hvornår har du fødselsdag?
Den 4. marts.
Once more with the English translation.
Hvornår har du fødselsdag?
“When is your birthday?”
Den 4. marts.
“It's on March 4th.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say "When [event]?"
The pattern is: Hvornår [event]?
“When [event]?”.
For example:
“When is your birthday?”
Hvornår har du fødselsdag?, Hvornår har du fødselsdag?
Now, how do you answer this question?
Den 4. marts.
“It's on March 4th.”
Listen to it again:
Den 4. marts., Den 4. marts.
This Danish sentence literally translates as "On March 4th." But it means “It's on March 4th.”.
